You Only Live Twice

Gameplay
In Goldeneye 64, the game would end after there is only one man standing. That wouldn't flow well in Goldeneye Source, so I believe using ROUNDS would work. The gameplay is divided into rounds. When there is one last man standing it starts over again and that person who was alive has 'won' the round. Spawning and gun placement is similar to that of deathmatch.
Implementation
This brings up many important issues that need to be brought to light: the scoreboard, camping, flow, spectator, points, respawning, etc. New joiners should not be able to join in the round after someone has been killed - so they should have to wait for the next round.
The Scoreboard
The scoreboard will still have your typical 'Kills, Deaths, and Ping' but with this Counterstrike Round-like gamemode it is sensible that more things should be added. For example - How many lives a player has, and if that player has been eliminated for that round. Also, a category for rounds won. Being the last man standing isn't that easy of a task and it should be known to the other players who is winning the sole purpose of this game - being the last man standing out of 2 lives. There may also need to be a time limit at the top right. A timelimit for the round has to be implemented so games wont last forever and people won't be sitting in spectator.
HUD/Messages
The numerous messages should include, but not limited to, Who won the current round, possibly who has just been eliminated, a time reminder (Example - 1 minute left for the round!), warnings for campers possibly, etc.
Timelimit
A timelimit for each round should probably max at 5 minutes long. The rounds should not take any longer than that to ensure consistent gameplay. No matter what, there WILL be the issue of campers. After each round ends, there should be a 5-10 second pause before going onto the next so people can see who won and can breifly converse.
Radar
When radar is implemented, this will ensure quicker gameplay, especially when it's only down to a few players. Otherwise how would they find a camper, or a player looking for the other person in a large map?
Rewards for winning a round & Stalemates
The main purpose of this is to not only convince people that winning a round is worth it more than sitting there, but also to ensure smooth gameplay later on in future rounds. The idea is for each round you win of YOLT, you get a bonus life. However, the amount of bonus lives you get should be capped at (2) to ensure fairness of other players and it wouldn't give the dominant player an even bigger advantage. This would have to be implemented in the scoreboard too to show that they have the extra lives. The player shouldn't have choice as to when they can use these lives - if are eliminated that round they MUST use them up. If for whatever reason there is a stalemate, I believe they should get some sort of disadvantage the next round. Usually in the case of a stalemate, if multiple people survive they probably have lost a great deal of health. They will carry on that lack of health to the next round since they did not make the effort to try and win. They definetly shouldn't bring leftover armor or their weapons with them to the next round as that would be unfair. *Note that these are simply third-party ideas and do not represent the final gamemode.
Teamplay
These same concepts can be applied to a TEAM YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE variation. TEAM YOLT would possibly include 'team based' spawnpoints, team points, and possibly some of the concepts here but used differently to support a team environment.

This is only my interpretation of how to use this scenario to it's extent in source. This is not the final view and it is open for debate and discussion. Some of the concepts you may agree or disagree with, either way, go to the talk section and post your thoughts!
