Egyptian was both a single player and multiplayer map for the original Goldeneye, however multiplayer only allowed up to 2 people. Most of the original values like the secret doors and rooms have been kept the same, but with more in-depth lighting, diverse landscapes, various textures and numerous small details with very few layout changes.

The Life of ge_egyptian

Started by Enzo and still worked on by him. The level is based off the original from the N64 version Goldeneye. With new features being added and new areas for Beta 1.0 it will keep its feel but be capable of holding many more players.

Egyptian was the first level to be playable but also had the most difficulties. During its production many complications were halting its progress. The first was the pillars. They took nearly eight months to be added because all members of the team were still learning how to properly compile props.

Phase 1

This image was taken during the first week of development.

Phase 2

Phase 3

In this revision the roof to the large pillar room was added including dust motes. Basement stairs were tweaked but were too steep and impractical. Pillars are still brush based.

Phase 4

Textures have been adjusted with many other bug fixes. Sun angle changed to light the large pillar room better.

Phase 5

My first test at using displacements, used to create new pillars. New lighting and platform for the Goldengun room.

Phase 6

More texture changes.

Phase 7

Better detailed 3d skybox. First pillar model for large and small. New textures added, thanks to Nickster.

Phase 8

More texture changes. Replaced the horrible long staircase that would cause players to get stuck.

Phase 9

More detailed changes.
